StartUp_EU is a EU project for schools to motivate secondary school students by replicating the excitement and creative, innovation of a new start-up company. The project will create an educational game to develop entrepreneurial skills. The project will create an educational game to develop entrepreneurial skills on a Web2.0 technology platform. Secondary school students will learn about entrepreneurship through inspiring and thought-provoking videos, online workbooks covering business and marketing plans, and presentation skills. Students will work collaboratively with other schools across Europe to create a new technology based innovation. They then have to produce a business plan that describes how they intend to find a market, produce the innovation, and market it. They will also have to show the need for their new idea and why it will fulfil the need. This will require the students completing market research, understanding the financial aspects of developing a new business, writing clear descriptive text, and building coherent arguments. Most of all they will ‘Learn by doing’ the reality and excitement of starting and running a business. Secondary schools from across Europe will be welcome to use the game when the project is ready, they will be able to compete in the StartUp_EU competition with exciting prizes.
